Every now and then, we get to work on a masterpiece project which we know from first glance at the architects drawing, is going to be an awesome one. This staircase project is one of those special ones. A mix of a brilliant builder, wonderful client and a dash of McNally craftsmanship is a winning combination.
For this project, the builder poured a concrete staircase which McNally Joinery cladded with timber. The staircase spanned two flights with two large landing areas all of which curved around the central point of the entrance hall.
The timber selected was Ash, finished with a rich stain. Ash as a timber has a beautiful grain which, once stained, becomes more pronounced. The staircase was covered with individually machined treads, a continuous curved handrail and a hand carved scroll. Elegant metal spindles with a single embellished detail made an immediate impact on the lines of the staircase giving a modern feel to traditional curves.
